Do More of What You Enjoy as a Psych NP

by | Feb 19, 2026 | Career Advice, Thoughts and Reflections

Every once in a while, it’s worth pausing to ask yourself: What do I actually enjoy doing? Sometimes the answer surprises you—and sometimes, it leads to your next great idea.

Recently, after stopping by a local cookie shop and indulging in a classic chocolate chip, I was reminded how small pleasures (like your favorite dessert) can spark meaningful reflections. It was simple, but eating this local favorite treat brought me a lot of joy—and reminded me why I built Stress Free Psych NP in the first place.

I created this platform because I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed and underprepared. Transitioning into practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner was not easy. I struggled with burnout, patient volume, loneliness, and the realization that I didn’t always feel competent—at least not in the ways I wanted to.

Why I Built Stress Free Psych NP

That discomfort is what drove me to do more of what I enjoy: helping other nurse practitioners feel secure, supported, and confident in their clinical skills.

Whether you’re an NP student still in training, a new grad navigating your first role, or a seasoned clinician looking to sharpen your mental health knowledge, my goal is the same: to make sure you never feel like you’re doing this alone.

Through educational resources, blog posts, templates, and clinical insights, I help PMHNPs reduce stress and build confidence—so you’re empowered to take your career wherever you want it to go.

Clinical Competence Builds Career Confidence

When you’re grounded in your skills, you can move more freely in your career. Whether it’s growing in your current role or launching your own practice, competence creates options.

Feeling empowered and valued shouldn’t be the exception. It should be your new baseline. Clinical confidence is how we get there.

What Brings You Joy?

So now I’ll turn the question back to you:
What do you want to do more of? What lights you up in your practice—or even in your day-to-day life?

Let that guide your next move. Doing what you enjoy isn’t just personal advice: it’s key to a sustainable, fulfilling career as a psych NP.
